FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PBS Guam to Celebrate Successful 2024 Guam Read-A-Thon with Awards Ceremony

Mangilao, Guam, March 18, 2024 – PBS Guam is thrilled to announce another successful Guam Read-A-Thon with its long-anticipated Awards Ceremony, to be held on Saturday, March 23rd, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Micronesia Mall Center Court. This event marks a celebration of literacy, dedication, and achievement among elementary and middle school students across Guam.

The Guam Read-A-Thon, an initiative by PBS Guam, aimed to foster a love for reading among students while promoting literacy and comprehension skills. Daycare, preschool, headstart, elementary, and middle school students from participating schools island-wide dedicated their time to reading and engaging with books, showcasing their commitment to education and learning.

The awards ceremony will honor the hard work and dedication of students from various schools across Guam. Since all the small prizes were already delivered island-wide, the Awards Ceremony will include the presentation of large prizes, including the prestigious grand prize: a round trip to Disneyland in Tokyo, with airfare, and hotel accommodations for two (student and one parent or guardian) for the island-wide winner. This grand prize serves as a testament to the remarkable efforts of the students and their dedication to the PBS Guam Read-A-Thon.

“We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all participating schools for their outstanding commitment to reading and literacy,” said Ina Carillo, General Manager, of PBS Guam. “Their dedication and enthusiasm have made this year’s Read-A-Thon a tremendous success, and we are so excited and proud to present all the hard-earned prizes to the students this year at our PBS Guam Read-A-Thon Awards Ceremony.”

The event was a testament to the collaborative efforts of educators, students, and the community at large in promoting literacy and fostering a culture of reading on the island. Through initiatives like the Guam Read-A-Thon, PBS Guam continues to play a vital role in shaping the educational landscape and empowering the youth of Guam.

PBS Guam extends its gratitude to all sponsors, supporters, volunteers, and participants for their invaluable contributions to the success of the 2024 Guam Read-A-Thon Awards Ceremony.
