The Guam Educational Telecommunications Corporation better known as PBS Guam is happy to announce that with overwhelming support from the community, the unprecedented number of members of the 35th legislature, cabinet and mayors who came out to support the pledge drive, helped PBS Guam to exceed its fundraising goal of $10,000.

“This event is the first step in a journey to rebuild and rebrand PBS Guam as a first-rate educational destination for the people of Guam and it’s children.” Stated Acting General Manager Ina Carillo. “We are overwhelmed with outpouring of support from the community, and would like to thank all the volunteers, performers and donors. With your continued support, we will achieve our goal of becoming the best Public Broadcasting System in the country.”

As a non-profit, public corporation, the station’s existence relies upon support from community businesses and individuals.  While PBS Guam receives government funding, most of the funds that help run the public television station come from fundraising efforts like this as well as contributions from viewers and corporate support.
